Herbs and flowers, such as the lemon balm, chamomile and calendulas in the Alaska Harvest Collaborative garden, can be used to make soothing lip balms and salves.
Unleash your inner alchemist and discover the art of crafting luxurious, personalized lip balms and salves in this hands-on workshop hosted by the Alaska Harvest Collaborative.
Mallory Smith will lead the class and help participants harvest herbs fresh from the garden. The herbs will then be blended with soothing butters and protective waxes to create custom mixtures tailored to participants’ preferences. All materials are provided, and participants can take their handcrafted products home.
Smith mentors students in the Alaska Harvest Collaborative experiential learning garden, part of ÐÔÓûÉç Agricultural and Experiment Station. She has 15 years of experience growing fruits and vegetables in northern climates and working in the local food movement.
The class is Wednesday, July 23, from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $50, which includes materials. Student discounts are available, and class size is limited.
Meet at the entrance of Georgeson Botanical Garden and walk to the Alaska Harvest Collaborative gardens, located on the Fairbanks Experiment Farm on the ÐÔÓûÉç Troth Yeddha’ Campus.
