At CANHR, we are committed to a collaborative research model, working hand-in-hand with Alaska Native communities, organizations, and individuals. From framing research questions to developing methodologies and interpreting data, our faculty and staff partner with tribal groups and healthcare agencies every step of the way. Together, we aim to apply research findings to real-world prevention and treatment efforts.

Spotlight: Current Research
For decades, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta has been home to the nation鈥檚 highest rates of suicide. In the 1980s, the backlash to a Pulitzer Prize-winning series helped prompt decades of work from Indigenous leaders to build innovative prevention programs from within the region focused on community strengths.
