Wood Center Food Pantry seeks donations

Do you have any spare shelf-stable food, paper products, or menstrual items? The Wood Center Food Pantry needs your donations! Over the summer, there was a 300% increase in people using the food pantry. From Aug. 21-30 the program has received as many requests for assistance as it did in the first six weeks of fall 2022.

Nanook Recreation fall group fitness

Nanook Recreation is offering a variety of fitness classes for the fall semester. We will offer some familiar programs such as Intro to Strength Training, Intermediate Strength Training, Intro to Olympic Weightlifting, Mat Pilates, Outdoor Bootcamp, and Indoor Cycling. The NSF I-Corps Site program: Customer Discovery

At Center ICE, we provide a six-week National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Site (I-Corps) program to accelerate academic research and startup business projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. Through the I-Corps program, teams complete 15 – 20 interviews over the six weeks. The closing date for the next cohort is 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3.

This past week I participated in some of my favorite events at ÐÔÓûÉç, welcoming students to the start of a new fall semester. All week, hundreds of new ÐÔÓûÉç students came onto campus from across the state and around the world to start their educational journey. Each one of them took a unique path to get to this starting line, and each one of them will make the ÐÔÓûÉç experience their own. This year's incoming first-year students are arriving at ÐÔÓûÉç at a time of great transition and opportunity.

Growing up in interior Alaska, fall time represents a season of transitions. The long summer days begin to shorten. The air gets a little crisper. The leaves begin to change color. And we at ÐÔÓûÉç are busy preparing for the start of the new academic year. Our various campuses from Dillingham to Fairbanks and everywhere in between are teeming with the energy of students, faculty and staff. It is a great time to be a part of the ÐÔÓûÉç community. An aspect of ÐÔÓûÉç that I appreciate most is our enduring commitment to increasing the accessibility of higher education.

Kate Juneau new Chartwells catering manager

Juneau has worked in the hospitality industry for 26 years with a focus in culinary arts and a passion to serve others.
